Two Rivers Event Pavilion
Nestled within the idyllic wooded backdrop of the Two Rivers Mansion, the Two Rivers Event Pavilion serves as an event facility accommodating a myriad of gatherings, from large scale events and community galas to intimate weddings and yearly retreats. Emerging from a 20-year Masterplan, developed by Nashville Metro Parks and Recreation, and passionately supported by the Friends of Two Rivers Mansion, this timeless pavilion embodies the synergy of heritage, nature, and modernity.
At the heart of this project lies the mission of the Friends of Two Rivers Mansion, an organization committed to safeguarding the heritage and legacy of this cherished landmark. Since 2017, the collaborative efforts of the team have worked with unwavering commitment to preserve and honor the site while inspiring a new sense of harmony with the natural surroundings by creating a campus-like setting.
As the Two Rivers Event Pavilion takes its place within this historic site, it inherently captures the essence of timelessness through careful and intentional design choices. The choice of materials, including brick, bronze metal panel, southern pine, and stone, draws inspiration from both the site's existing historic textures as well as the vernacular, agricultural character of the region. This synthesis of materials not only respects the past but offers a bridge to the future.
The interior event hall also embodies a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. The exposed wood and steel structural elements echo the exterior aesthetics, forging a seamless connection between inside and out. Natural light streams through clerestory windows, creating an ambiance of openness and warmth, while expansive sliding doors blur the boundary between the interior event space and the sprawling porch.
One of the project’s most distinctive features is an event lawn that stretches gracefully between the pavilion’s eastern porch, the historic Mansion and the 1802 house. This lawn, now the centerpiece of the campus, not only offers a picturesque setting for events but also serves as a symbol of unity across generations. It bridges the gap between the past and present, inviting visitors to explore, learn, and create cherished memories.
